Chef Nelly Robinson of NEL,
Sydney at VOMO
A culinary immersion
15–17 May
This May, VOMO Island Resort welcomes Chef Nelly Robinson, Patron Chef of NEL Restaurant in Sydney for an exclusive three-day culinary collaboration – bringing one of Australia’s most celebrated kitchens to the South Pacific.
A VOMO-Born Collaboration
This collaboration is more than a visiting chef series — it is a continuation of a relationship built over time.
Chef Nelly and his family are long-standing guests of VOMO Island Resort, returning often to enjoy the island’s privacy, natural beauty, and sense of calm. This May, that connection comes full circle, as Chef Nelly joins the VOMO culinary team to cook, collaborate, and create.
In the lead-up, VOMO’s Chef de Cuisine Sanjay Dutt will spend a week at NEL Restaurant in Sydney, immersing himself in the techniques, philosophy, and precision of one of Australia’s most respected dining rooms.
Together, these exchanges will culminate in a weekend of intimate guest experiences — and a newly reimagined menu at The Rocks.
Chef Nelly Robinson
Chef Nelly began his career in the UK at the age of 14, training at Michelin-starred Northcote Manor before going on to work in acclaimed kitchens around the world.
At just 29, he opened NEL in Sydney, quickly earning a reputation for its innovative approach and deeply personal guest experience.
Widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading chefs, Nelly has cooked internationally, from Europe to the Middle East and Asia, and has been invited to collaborate at prestigious global events.
“I’m so excited to be collaborating with the incredible team at the newly renovated VOMO — my home away from home. I’ll be bringing the flavours of NEL to the island and can’t wait to share a few chef’s secrets at the masterclass!”
Beyond the Weekend
This collaboration leaves a lasting imprint.
The final outcome of the NEL partnership is a newly created showcase menu for The Rocks — one that reflects shared philosophies, elevated technique, and a deep respect for local ingredients.
The partnership with NEL will help the VOMO culinary team adapt to new cooking styles, creative inspirations and flavours.
The showcase menu will begin in June and run for three months, allowing guests to continue to experience its influence.
