Meet Wise: 28 Years of Creating Family Memories at VOMO
For 28 years, Wise has been a familiar face at VOMO Island Resort. As a member of our Ocean Play team, he’s spent nearly three decades introducing guests to the beauty of our island, sharing adventures on the water, and building friendships that span generations.
We sat down with Wise to reflect on his journey, the memories he’s made, and what keeps him smiling every day.
What has kept you at VOMO for 28 years?
“The working conditions, entitlements and environment. There are many other resorts in Fiji, but I have been here for 28 years. I like working here.”
What are some of your favourite memories?
“One of the funniest moments from the past was when we wanted to watch games of rugby, we didn’t used to have good reception.
“We had to go and sit under a coconut tree to watch the game,” Wise said.
“My next favourite memory is all the children. I’ve been looking after some of the children that have been coming here for 25 years. I’ve seen them grow up and built great relationships with the families.
“My final and personal memory is that I started my family while working here. And now I have my two girls working with me at the resort.”
What advice would you give to someone joining the VOMO team?
“First, trust yourself. Be honest when you’re learning if you don’t know something and finally, think about your family. You are here for your family.
“And lastly, there is no other place you can work that is better than VOMO.”
