If your idea of a dream holiday, is idyllic white sand beaches, great pools, fantastic food, and beautiful well appointed 5-star bures, then Vomo will suit you well. The friendly helpful staff make this resort even better. The new Reefside adult only side adds a new dynamic, but the whole resort is fantastic whether you have come with the family or not.
The cost included meals are the best we have encountered in the Pacific. First rate food that would not be out of place in the better restaurants of AUCKLAND.
Definitely worth splashing out for the helicopter transfer from Nadi airport. read less - 30/10/19

The transfer is smooth, convenient and sees you on the island in around one and a half hours from leaving the Nadi departure lounge. Vomo meets you, takes you on an easy just over 30 minute drive to Vuda Marina where a fast, clean boat is waiting to transport guests to the island. Alternatively, they recommend helicopter from Nadi International, or there is an option to use float plane (this sometimes requires customers to wait extended periods of time before transportation).
On arrival at Vomo the greeting is the normal, friendly Fijian welcome. At this stage I must point out the staff are friendly, relaxed and attentive. A special mention of Tim who we met on another resort years ago, great service, knowledge and help throughout our stay.
Our accommodation was on the hillside, a small but steep climb which was pleasant and offered nice water and foliage views. The room was well appointment and the cleaning done efficiently each day. Bathroom was spacious, decks lovely with nice sunbed and small table and chairs to enjoy. The bedroom was adequate and a curtain can be drawn across for guests with children. The fridge is well stocked with both nibbles and non-alcoholic, complimentary beverages. Loved the cookies given every couple of days to enjoy and the complimentary laundry service is appreciated as the chore of washing clothes becomes tiresome and difficult.
We enjoy walking and made the trip to the yoga platform and around most of the beaches. Didn’t get to Eastern Beach as the rocks were slippery and our footwear inadequate. Some of the climbs are steep and should be done early in the day, when the heat is not excessive. The views from vantage points are spectacular and the grounds on the island are beautifully maintained. There is a small library, TV room (TV’s were not in our room. Although we do not often watch we do like the option especially in inclement weather). Children appear well catered for with a kids club and many smiling staff members occupying the smaller guests. There is even golf for those so inclined.
Off island activities are the normal and we did thoroughly enjoy the picnic. It is on a small, steep island just off Vomo itself. Interesting rock formations, caves and although the beach is small it is beautiful and the water crystal clear. The packed lunch was lovely and the addition of table and chairs on the beach a nice touch.
“The Rocks” is an adults only area. The location is beautiful, the pool luke warm and the view gorgeous. The attention around the pool, by staff, is efficient and friendly and a small van/bus can transport quests if they do not wish to walk. The bar area is pleasant and there is a restaurant with lovely water views. The evening meal is offered, at this stage, twice per week. We ate here once and enjoyed the meal. However, we did not have a memorable lunch and preferred what was available in the main restaurant. This is obviously only our opinion but some more “ordinary” choices would have been appreciated as many were not to our taste. We do dine overseas, including Fiji, extensively.
The main restaurant offers breakfast and includes a cool room. We have not seen this at another resort and it was fantastic keeping food fresh and free of flies. Lovo evening was superb and the service good with attention to detail that is often lacking in Fijian resorts. The meals were good, but not the most memorable part of our stay (Lovo night had an exceptional and decadent dessert choice). A special mention to Zac whose incredible voice we have enjoyed in the past (at a resort we often frequent). Lovely to hear him again and enjoy one of the best voices we have come across in Fiji.
One of our main concerns, before this visit, was that Vomo might be too formal to suit us. Definitely this was not the case. They are relaxed and attentive, while obviously you can dress formally if you so wish, most people are there to step back, enjoy Fiji and the beach/holiday atmosphere. We will definitely be back to Vomo in the future and have no hesitation in recommending it to both families, individuals and couples. read less - 24/10/19

We loved everything about Vomo and even though we had huge expectations going there, Vomo beat them on every score.
The island is MAGICAL - turquoise water, lush gardens, exotic flowers, wild fruit.. you name it! The island is huge and private, we spent days (and nights!) exploring it and we found something extraordinary every single day! We also had a blast exploring the beautiful underwater world of Vomo - Vomo's Ocean Play crew took us to different snorkerling spots every day to show us Vomo's rich fauna and flora!! I think something we didn't appreciate until we were there was that Vomo owns the entire island - so if it's windy on one side of the island the opposite side of the island has no waves... so you can snorkel every single day!
The food was divine - the menu was changed daily... and offers something for everyone - we wish we could eat it all. The produce was fresh, the flavours were punchy and the menus were interesting. I highly recommend giving the Rocks a try too! We loved the South East Asian-inspired menu which was perfect for the hot weather!
We had a hillside villa - because the beachfront villas were sold out.. and we couldnt be happier! the views were amazing from our villa, which was spacious and tastefully furnished.
We would also like to recognize and thank each and everyone at Vomo – including those amazing people who work behind the scenes and whom we never got to meet and thank in person – you made our stay special and magical. Everyone at Vomo is kind and generous and went above and beyond to make our stay and my 30th birthday unforgettable. we are forever grateful. See you next year! read less - 07/10/19

My husband and I have traveled all over the world to some pretty amazing places. We have never been more impressed than we were with our experience here. It is rare to feel as though you are genuinely cared for as a person when staying at a hotel, but you do here. We were consistently flabbergasted by the fact that all staff members seemed to know our names, our villa number, and our dietary restrictions. Even the general manager knew who we were, probably because he greeted us when we arrived and sent us off at the end of our stay. You won’t get that kind of care at any hotel I can think of.
If we needed anything, it was taken care of right away. There was a dessert that was incredible, I asked for another and they brought it happily. They made my husband a special meal that he had enjoyed from the day before, even though they didn’t have all of the same ingredients. And don’t even get me started with how they celebrated my birthday. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I can tell you that it has been a long time since I felt that special.
From beginning to end, we had only excellent experiences. The food is so good that we are having a hard time adjusting back to “normal” American food. The Sunday Dessert Heaven was one of the highlights of my life, I think (plus the caramelized banana parfait, holy cow that was good). After every meal, one of us would say, “man, I can’t wait for the next meal!” Unfortunately, that meant the addition of several pounds of body weight during our stay.
The room was beautiful. It is totally worth getting a beachfront villa, the view is spectacular. The activities are awesome, and Fiji Night was so great. I could literally go on and on. We were so sad to leave, many of the team members felt like friends by the end of our trip. If their sentiments are real, then they have found a rare group of people to work there. If their sentiments are not genuine, well, consider me fooled.
Is it expensive? Yes. Is it a small island? Definitely. Is it worth it? Absolutely, every penny. We can’t wait to return as soon as we can. read less - 25/09/19

The room was spacious and beautifully appointed. The patio was roomy with a luxurious 2 person couch with many pillows and when I requested another lounge chair as we were 3 people they brought it up the hill for me. Their service was always fantastic and we were treated like we were very special guest. Every person was cheerful and smiling and would do what they could to make us happy. We arrived before 10 am and they invited us to have a full breakfast while we waited for our room to be made ready. The food was plentiful and mostly fabulous. The breakfasts were superb with a cold room buffet that varied a little and included cold cuts such as prosciutto and smoked salmon (lox) and assorted nuts /dried fruits to mix as you please including macadamia nuts (which looked like peanuts). You also could order from a breakfast menu which had many tasty choices. Coffee service is very slow but is very good made from a restaurant espresso machine. Every lunch and dinner had a choice of appetizer, a choice of main, and a choice of dessert. The dessert choices always included a "pastry" and a flavor of ice cream and of sorbet. The coconut sorbet was the creamiest, fluffiest, tastiest "ice cream" ever. The Wednesday cold room all you could eat desserts was a nice surprise though if we had been told about it in advance we would have had a lighter lunch to better enjoy the large selection of desserts, many of which had not been on the menu. There I tried the rainbow colored (kids?) pound cake which was very buttery and moist. Lunch was greatly enhanced by the surroundings -- eating on the sand next to the beautiful aquamarine and turquoise ocean under the shade of palm trees was fabulous. The Fiji night dinner was very good. All meals included free soft drinks and we could get soft drinks from the bar any time. The trip to Little Vomo is well worth doing. You have a private island for a few hours with linen covered eating table to have the picnic lunch, cushioned chaise lounge chairs and there is even a secluded "tree house" with cushioned chaise lounge chairs. The daily snorkel trips are great as is snorkeling right from the beach. The Rocks bar is great although it should have open hours through sunset every night. Walking back on the path lit by tiki torches is fun and much better than the minivan which they always offered.
Vomo Cons:
Food that was spicy though not marked as spicy on the menu such as Thai style dishes.
Not knowing the menu until the meal. It would have been nice if they posted the lunch and dinner menu for the day at breakfast time so people who are pickier eaters could plan their food for the day.
When arriving by ferry or seaplane you have to step from the transfer boat into the shallow water. There is no pier. It would be nice if they at least had a gangplank that could be put from the bow of the transfer boat to dry sand for arrivals to walk across who may not have dressed for getting their feet/lower legs wet.
Overall Vomo is my favorite South Pacific island over others (Moorea, Bora Bora, Tikehau, Roratonga, Autitauki) that I have been to. read less - 22/08/19

We choose Vomo because it is a family place and we all love to dive - and the diving was fantastic. Even the snorkeling was incredible. Accommodations are luxury without being over the top. The dining was better than expected and our family voted it as "great". From my picky 12 year old to my 19 year old - everyone enjoyed and Vomo did a nice 'special' dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Best is the range of activities. Water sports of all types and excursions to Little Vomo and beyond as well as the fun workout of climbing Mt. Vomo or circumnavigating the island at low tide. The adult pool was under construction when we were there and that will be a great addition for those who want some away time. Having said that, we always had plenty of 'space' with beach to ourselves. We will visit again for sure. read less - 31/01/19

From the incredible waters to the amazing staff. I can’t rave on enough about the staff on this beautiful island. They take the time and effort to get to know you on a personal level, and it just makes for such a wonderful experience. The food on this island is some of the best we’ve ever had. We looked forward to every single meal and often ended up lounging around unable to move because we’d overeaten. Had a private fishing trip with Zak, caught some incredible fish which was then cooked up for us for our lunch. The rooms are beautiful, very spacious and stunning bathrooms. The waters are beautiful with some great snorkelling just off the shore. My kids didn’t want to leave the kids club! It was huge with so much available for kids to do. The nannies were amazing especially Vuli who looked after our kids. Service is unbelievable. Anything you ask is provided to you and there’s no such thing as ‘Fiji time’. We stayed at The Residence villa and were SO spoiled with attention and the fabulous accommodation and setting of the place . It has its own beautiful pool but the divine beach is a few steps away too. It’s totally private and we also had the smiling and helpful Vani who was our “butler “ but really became like one of our family group for the trip . Whilst we were snorkeling every morning on the INCREDIBLE morning snorkeling trips , she would stay with mum and keep her company . Mum cried when leaving her and I think Vani was a bit teary too !
From the welcome drinks and song to the good bye , nothing was too much trouble and everything done with a smile ! The staff were so terrific. The setting ideal for a “ do nothing much” laze around Island holiday with good food !
The evening drinks in the adult only sunset bar was a high light too.
Would definitely return for some R & R and snorkeling in the future.
My only comment is that I would have liked a few more environmental touches like not seeing the aircon on all the time etc .. read less - 24/12/18

We spent a week on Vomo for our honeymoon, staying in a hillside villa. The amenities were fantastic - the villa was beautiful, resort grounds extremely well-kept, and dining areas organized and clean.
The island itself would be difficult to beat. It is completely surrounded by beautiful coral. Daily (complimentary) snorkeling excursions explore all the beautiful coral around the island. If you are out-doorsy, take a hike up Mount Vomo, but do this early in the morning or late in the evening so you aren't exposed by the midday sun.
The food, OH the food. It was phenomenal. Every meal offers a starter, entree, and dessert, and we were blown away by almost everything we ate there. Fresh juices and fresh-caught seafood were in almost every meal. We literally watched the staff bring in fish they caught in the morning for meals that day. Unreal!
One of the major highlights was the staff. Every person was so friendly and welcoming. They would literally do anything we asked (and some things we didn't ask) to make our experience unforgettable. Like I said earlier, we truly felt like royalty based on the excellent service. Be sure to get to know the staff members. They are great people, and have so much to share about Fiji and Vomo both.
Finally, the "little things" and attention to detail were really what made Vomo "home". From the nightly turndown service, to every staffmember greeting guests with a hearty "bula", to the cold minted towels at meals on a hot day, to bug spray in the rooms and at the bars, the little things are really what made this island feel like home in our week there.
A few "pro tips":
- If staying in a hillside villa, request one high up on the hill. The walk is difficult to get up there, but the view is SO worth it.
- Grab lunch on the beach - kick off your shoes and enjoy the sand between your toes as you eat!
- Don't miss sunset at the Rocks Bar!
- We took the boat from Port both to & from the island. The boat to the island wasn't bad, but we recommend taking a plane or helicopter back to the airport. It just saves on travel time and keeps you out of the elements at the start of a long journey home.
We really felt like we were leaving our 2nd home when we left Vomo. Thank you & vinaka for such a great week there! read less - 17/11/18
