PRE-ARRIVAL INFORMATION. SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
I am sure that you are getting excited to finally be able to travel to Fiji again! We understand that travelling may have changed since your last overseas holiday and you may have some questions about the process of visiting Fiji. VOMO will have our own doctor on the island to assist with your medical needs during your stay. We are working in partnership with Fiji’s premier private medical provider, Zen’s Medical Centre to offer this service to our guests.
Currently, there are 2 great resources for information regarding travelling to Fiji. The first is Tourism Fiji Website https://www.fiji.travel/covid-19/travelling-to-fiji which is updated regularly by Tourism Fiji in line with procedures advised by the Fijian Government. The second is the Fijian Ministry of Health website who have an excellent summary of the requirements for both entering Fiji and while you are in the country. https://www.mcttt.gov.fj/traveltofiji/international-travel/
We highly recommend that you use these resources to find information about travelling to Fiji as this will be the most up to date information available. The Fijian government is still firming up some of their framework for international travellers and this may be updated once borders are open with processes being refined over time. Please be assured that through the pandemic we have found both the Fijian Government and the Fijian Ministry of Health to be very proactive and supportive and are confident in their management of your health and safety while in the country.
To board your flight to Fiji you are now required to show some documents to airline staff at check in. Please take a copy of the following documents with you to the airport:
- VOMO Confirmation
- Vaccination Certificate
- Booking confirmation for your pre-paid Rapid Antigen Test on arrival to Fiji from the website www.entrytestfiji.com
- Travel insurance policy with covid coverage
Now that your stay is approaching soon, we recommend checking that you meet all the requirements to enter to Fiji. Please check the Fijian Ministry of Heath website for the most update information on https://www.mcttt.gov.fj/traveltofiji/international-travel/ or Tourism Fiji Website on https://www.fiji.travel/covid-19/travelling-to-fiji
Please kindly note that you are required by the Fijian Government to have travel insurance that includes coverage for Covid. Please ensure that this has been organised prior to your stay.
As mentioned in the document list above, it is a requirement to enter Fiji is that all guests must have a pre-paid appointment for a Rapid Antigen Test within 48 hours of their arrival into Fiji. This must be booked online and you are required to show a payment receipt in order to board your flight to Fiji. Please visit the website www.entrytestfiji.com and select VOMO as your testing location to make a booking.
To re-enter your home country at the end of your stay you may be required to have another covid test. We recommend checking the entry requirements of your home country to ensure that you are aware of the procedure to return. Should you require either a Rapid Antigen Test or PCR test our Guest Services Team will organize an appointment time with our Medical Centre for you
In these current times, we appreciate your understanding that information is subject to change
Who is vaccinated on the island?
Fiji have mandated that all workers in any industry must be vaccinated. As you are traveling to a private island, this means that you will only be interacting with either travellers who have been double vaccinated, or indeed team members who have also been double vaccinated.
Can I get a PCR test on island?
The VOMO Doctor can administer a PCR test on the island for you for the cost of $350 FJD or Rapid Antigen Test with instant results at $50 FJD per person. If needing a PCR test, it will then be sent to the mainland for processing at the government facilities in Nadi or Suva. Should you wish to have your test on the mainland there are several locations that offer this service.
How long does it take for a PCR test to return?
As flights are often on the line, we are advising a 36 hour turnaround for any PCR test. In our experience though, once the tests arrive on the mainland, they are able to turn around in 6-8 hours. Fiji has a number of labs in the country able to conduct PCR tests. VOMO has partnered with Zens medical clinic, the country’s most respected private medical center to undertake these tests.
Can I get a Rapid Test on Island?
The VOMO Doctor will administer the Rapid Antigen Test within 24 hours of your arrival to the island. Should you require a Rapid Antigen Test to re-enter your home country on departure this can also be provided by our Doctor. The cost is $50 FJD.
What if I receive a positive test on island?
VOMO have a dedicated western trained GP residing on the island 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our doctor will be coordinating any response in the unlikely event that someone produces a positive test. Our General Manager will work with you to determine whether you wish to remain on island, or relocate to the mainland. Should you choose to remain at VOMO we have dedicated villas in our inventory so that we will have the ability to accommodate you on the island. Our Doctor will manage your isolation and care and will discuss your options for moving the mainland if you prefer to be closer to medical facilities. Should you prefer to move to the mainland, this can also be accommodated subject to the local regulations at the time. We are in active partnership with two mainland luxury properties and have preferential rates should this situation arise.
What if someone else on the island tests positive?
Our procedure dictates that the individual that tested positive be isolated at the resort. Our resident doctor will then identify any close contacts and investigate
What if I test positive before I leave and so cannot travel to Fiji?
VOMO continues to have a COVID guarantee against border closures, but as a small property we cannot warrant against cancelled travel due to positive cases. Should you not be able to travel due to you testing positive, we will issue a credit for you to defer travel at no extra cost. Alternatively, we will provide paperwork to your insurer if you prefer to make a travel insurance claim.
Does Travel insurance cover COVID?
It is our understanding that the Fijian Government has recently announced that all international travelers to Fiji must have travel insurance that includes COVID coverage. Please check with your travel insurance provider as not all companies will be including this in their policy. Tourism Fiji has provided us with a list of insurance agencies in several countries that are including COVID related expenses in their cover. If you would like some further information, please ask our reservations team for the details.
Will I be allowed to board my flight home if I am positive for COVID?
This is a decision for the airlines, however our understanding at this time is that Qantas, Fiji Airways and Virgin all require negative tests as a pre-requisite to flight or if you have tested positive in Fiji, you may be able to fly with a medical certificate issued by a Doctor to confirm you have tested positive more than 10 days ago. All information is subject to change as countries are altering their requirements frequently.
I have read that I have to isolate for two days, does this affect my experience on island?
Not at all. This policy has been put in place to ensure that travellers do not enter areas on the mainland (ie. Villages) where vaccination rates may not be as high. As you are travelling to a private island that does not have a village, this means that you may utilize and roam the hotel grounds as normal. The one exception that we will ask you to make is that you do not attend our Village tour experience until your first 48 hours have elapsed.
