How Our Coral Gene Bank is Protecting Fiji’s Future
At VOMO Island Fiji, we believe that the most beautiful parts of our home deserve to be protected for generations to come. As a proud participant in Tourism Fiji’s Loloma Hour initiative, we invite guests to participate in something far beyond a holiday memory — a lasting impact on our oceans.
Loloma Hour – Give Back to the Reef – A living wonder worth fighting for
Our Coral Gene Back Excursion is a guided snorkelling experience with purpose. Guests are invited to explore the thriving underwater coral art sculptures off our shores — a living gene bank created in partnership with Counting Coral, a not-for-profit organisation leading the way in reef restoration across Fiji.
Counting Coral’s mission is simple and powerful – to preserve and protect coral reefs through sustainable, creative, and scientifically driven coral planting. Each sculpture placed in our waters serves as a coral gene bank—a long-term, resilient habitat that protects endangered coral species and educates and inspires those who visit it.
Get involved—Do good. Feel good.
By joining our Loloma Hour coral gene bank reef tour, guests snorkel alongside our marine team, learn about the threats facing coral ecosystems, and witness firsthand the incredible work done to ensure reef health. This is more than eco-tourism — an invitation to be part of something bigger.
If you would like to give back in an even more tangible way you can also support Counting Coral directly through donations, helping fund future coral sculptures, research, and reef preservation initiatives throughout Fiji.
