Less than a year since the inception of our Sculptural Coral Gene Bank. More promising coral growth…
In early 2024, an innovative underwater sculpture-based Coral Gene Bank was installed at Vomo Island, Fiji, in partnership with Counting Coral. Less than a year later, these new images illustrate the remarkable progress of coral growth on the sculptural framework. Exciting!
This underwater installation provides a critical habitat for marine life and demonstrates a promising approach to coral propagation and conservation. The early success of the installation offers hope for continued reef restoration and the long-term health of Fiji’s vibrant marine ecosystems.
You can see this in real life when you visit VOMO next and book one of our free snorkel tours and/or underwater dive restoration tours (a nominal charge for NFP coral conservation funds).
Vinaka to Counting Coral and our team on the island, headed by our Marine Biologist, Lai.
