Our baby corals are flourishing.
We’ve had exciting progress on our ongoing coral conservation initiative in partnership with Counting Coral. Since installing our coral gene bank underwater sculpture, we’ve witnessed better-than-expected progress that highlights the power of collaborative efforts in marine preservation.
Our Marine Biologist, Laisenia, has monitored the coral growth, capturing underwater photos (see below!) that reveal the start of a thriving coral community. These images show vibrant coral adhesion. So exciting!
The corals appear healthy and happy, a testament to the successful integration of art and science in our conservation work.
Vinaka Counting Coral, for your expert insights and guidance
Jolyon Collier, CEO and Founder of Counting Coral expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative’s progress. He noted the impressive coral adhesion and growth, attributing the success to our meticulous care and hard work. Jolyon advised us to clean thoroughly around bonded coral and reposition any slipped fragments. His positive feedback and expert guidance inspire us to continue our dedicated efforts.
Our coral nurturing is working:)
What’s next on our coral conservation agenda? Community involvement and Eco Dive plans
As part of our initiative, we are curating an eco-dive plan that allows guests to participate in replacing dead coral with new fragments, fostering a hands-on conservation experience. We invite you to join us in these efforts, contributing to the health of our reefs and gaining a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems.
Continuing the Journey
This journey is just beginning, and we are committed to updating you on our progress. Our coral gene bank serves as a conservation effort and a beautiful underwater attraction that embodies hope and action.
