Mt Vomo Charity Climb Challenge is alive and well with a recent guest, 14-year-old Cooper Provan, smashing it with a time of 3:19 up Mt Vomo.
You may remember our Mt Vomo Charity Climb was graciously launched back in 2016 by Australia’s Channel 7’s Sports Commentator, Mark Beretta, with his run to the top of Mt Vomo, setting an impressive time of just over 5 minutes, encouraging other guests to participate in this charity event with an “Are you better than Beretta” challenge at the end. 14-year-old Cooper has proven his mettle with an impressive run of 3:19*. Go, Cooper!
If you participate in the climb – whether you run, fast walk or saunter, you won’t just be rewarded with the thrill of finishing and the spectacular views at the end. To encourage participation and much-needed donations, anyone who registers and pays the $20 entry fee** for the challenge on the island goes into the draw to win a return holiday to VOMO.
So if you’re a runner and think you are like Cooper and can be “better than Beretta”, make sure to pack your trail shoes and Strava device. And if running is not your bag, the walk is a quick 15 minutes of beautiful scenery.
* Isa! Cooper’s device didn’t register on the Strava leaderboard for technical reasons, but you’ll see his mapped run pictured above. Considering his age, he deserves a massive shout-out regardless of the little technical glitch. What a time to try and beat. Plus, his run has contributed to a very worthy charity.
**All entry fees are donated in full to Cure Kids.
