Vomo brings Christmas cheer to ill children
Children are such a precious part of our communities and yet sadly, far too many lose their lives to illnesses that would be more readily able to be treated in other parts of the world. Vomo Island Fiji are a proud supporter of Cure Kids. The purpose of the Cure Kids charity is simple; to raise funds to buy vital medical equipment and fund research projects that are an absolute necessity to save sick children’s lives in Fiji. Put simply, Cure Kids fund the cures so that the researches can find the cures.
Vomo Island Resort Fiji is dedicated to be assisting the Cure Kids cause, whilst also trying to brighten the lives of those living with illnesses. On Monday 8th December, Vomo we hosted a Christmas Party for a group of 20 children who have Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) or heart related issues. We wanted to put a little bit of joy into the lives of some of the sick children that Cure Kids care for by providing them with a fun day of treats, games, a sumptuous lunch and of course a visit from Santa.
The 20 RHD patients travelled to Vomo with Ms Vicky Lee, Cure Kids CEO; Dr Joe Kado, the Cure Kids RHD funded specialist and some dedicated nurses, parents and carers. The children were all aged between 7 and 18 years of age. A fabulous day was had by all and it was wonderful to see these kids having so much fun.
We are so proud to be have been partnered in this event by the wonderful people at Adrenalin Fiji. The beautiful vessel Bel’Mare, an 86’ motor catamaran that is used for crewed yacht charters here in Fiji, transported the children in opulent luxury from Denarau Marina to Vomo and return. We couldn’t have hosted the Cure Kids Christmas event without Adrenalin Fiji’s help and we shout out a huge vinaka vaka levu to them for their amazing support. http://www.adrenalinfiji.com/activities/leisure-cruising
