Over the past months VOMO has committed to a few environmentally and socially responsible initiatives. In order to sustain the environment on and around our beautiful islands, we’ve started our very first Environment Day in February. It has been a great success and promoted the awareness across the VOMO team and guests. With the new rubbish bins now available around the island, everyone can ‘do the right thing’ easily!
For those who are keen to donate to the local Fijian villagers, Pack for a Purpose is a great initiative that allows travellers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination. If you save just a few kilos of space in your suitcase and bring supplies for Fijian villages and local schools in need, you’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families. VOMO supports 2 local villages at the bottom of Yasawa islands, located just 30 mins by boat from the resort. Items donated will be passed onto the villagers by our team and guests are also welcome to personally donate to the villagers with a Village Visit, which can be arranged through Ocean Play for a unique cultural experience.
VOMO is now a proud member of the Mamanuca Environment Society (MES), an organisation found in 2001 to protect the stunning marine environment of the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji. Along with other key stakeholders in the region, we are committed to the promotion of environmental awareness through the Turtle Conservation Programme and to protect the marine and terrestrial resources in the area. To support this cause worthy initiative, a nominal fee of FJ$ 5.00 per stay will be added to the room charge. It is however entirely voluntary and the fee may be removed if guests choose not to participate.
